Houseplants, Pots and Plant Care

Fernhollow is a small plant shop run out of one greenhouse. We grow a short list of houseplants that do well in ordinary homes, pot them in mixes we would use ourselves, and pack them by hand. We would rather sell you one plant that lasts ten years than five that last a season.

Help after it arrives

Most plants that die indoors are not killed by bad luck. They get too much water, too little light, or a pot without a drainage hole. Our plant care section covers the basics in plain language, along with the few tools and soil mixes we think are worth owning.

For seasonal advice, answers to the questions customers ask us most, and the odd honest opinion about plant trends, read the Fernhollow Journal. It is written by the people who grow and pack your plants.

How we grow

Every plant spends at least six weeks in our greenhouse before it ships, so it arrives settled in its pot rather than freshly moved. We do not force growth with heavy feeding, which means our plants can look a little smaller than supermarket ones. They also tend to keep going once they reach your windowsill.
